Superbowl 2008 in Review
I’ll be writing more on this topic but for now I wanted to show an example of a great Superbowl ad. It’s funny, it’s offbeat enough to have people talking about it Monday morning, and… wait for it… it’s actually about the product being sold! Trifecta! The stock even got a nice bounce on Monday. The worst thing about many of the Superbowl ads is that throughout the entire ad you had not a clue what the ad was for, and when the a-ha moment comes at the end where you get the product logo and punchline, it’s a major let down because the hook from the product back into the ad content was weak and contrived. An example of this would be the lizard water… I don’t remember even what the name of the water is, I just remember the ad was totally weird and I was very confused. An example of where the hook is done right?
The Audi R8 was all the rage on Monday morning. Very well done.
